You can't tell me they couldn't notify everybody today. Why drag it out for basically a full week and let us stress over it even longer? Not to mention, some people will find out they lost their jobs a day or two before Thanksgiving. How unnecessarily cruel is that?

Jane is trying to save her job as the stock price continues to decline. The ludicrous thing is that in order to turn a company around you need your entire team pulling/moving in the same direction. Instead, you have people worried about their future, the best employees will find work elsewhere. The rest will be less productive as a result of the stress and poor handling of the layoffs. The mishandling of this should be the end for those who planned this fiasco.
It can only get better anywhere else.
I feel sorry for those who have to stay in this toxic work environment.
Why drag it out? Because Employers are cold, callous, cruel, mean, have No soul and are evil. As someone here said, MDs, Directors, and SVPs who have direct reports already know who on their teams are getting the axe.
Mind games the people that r left they want them to feel grateful they are still there

Don't ask because they won't tell you until it comes to that time whether your let go or not. At this point everyone doesn't know and that's throughout the company. I do think heads of the departments as well as directors know at this point who within their teams or themselves is being let go.
Like I'm on the fence. I really want to ask if my job is ok or not and then also don't want to draw attentions to myself. It's a difficult week.
Seriously, they don't really care about anyone. These companies just don't care.
This whole thing has been handled so poorly
I'm sure it has to do with risk to the firm.
Completely agree...just let us know already :(
