Run Down Stores / Lack of Store Upgrades

I am seeing quite a few run down stores.

  1. Stores with water damaged and leaking roofs
  2. Stores more than half the lights burnt out and not even being bothered to be replaced.
  3. Stores with malfunctioning handicapped doors.
  4. Stores with old stained and carpeting or floor tiles falling apart.
  5. Stores with broken fitting room doors and/or dirty fitting rooms.

And so on.

When Macy's going to finish upgrading its stores?

Well, if your store isn't getting repaired or being maintananced, it is a clear sign your location is going to close. You gotta be profitable and be opening up credit to stay off the closing list!!!

Went into the women's fitting room at our store in the Seattle area and the whole place smelled like a cross between feet and p-e. The cheap plastic faux wood tiled floors are warping from some kind of moisture and I shudder to think what the cause is given the pervasive smell. Yuk! Ick! Yikes!

Better to order several sizes online and bring the ones that don't fit back to the store and avoid the fitting rooms.

Customers said they don’t want to be bothered on the sales floor. They don’t want to be hovered over. Do you expect someone to greet you and upsell you from Club Room to Polo? Tools of the Trade to All Clad? Karen Scott shoes to Michael Kors?

Customers only want fast and friendly checkout. If they want personalized service, they need to go to Saks and Neiman Marcus.

Macys needs to go back to when they cared about all the customers. There’s isn’t getting to the next level.
Put your investment in the customers and not who and how many you put into company positions. Bring the stores back to the place to be for all customers . Otherwise we are going to end the most iconic name in retail.
I visited both Menlo Park and East Brunswick recently and thought I was in an Ollie’s or some type of store like that. There is no pride left in how they take care of their business. Customers deserve better.

You are just now seeing this? I worked for mtech, before they dumped us to the curb, and the stores were a mess 5 years ago. I am sure they have not gotten any better.

Far away and long ago ……carpets at Macys were periodically cleaned. Haven’t seen that in years. They aren’t even vacuumed. So Gross! Who knows what’s in that carpet. .When I see a kid on the floor…..I cringe
