Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Even if we pass the 26th

I would think that AVGO and VMW will just work out a new deal and carry on. A joint statement with a more realistic date of March is maybe announced but neither company will want to walk away after all the negotiating. Eventually there will be movement from China given AVGO’s connections and a deal will happen. In the meantime the VMW folk remain wondering what / when

HT, Magoo, MD, SL, you all take your time. Extend the date for another month or two. Don't rush. I am enjoying my PTO without requesting PTO if you know what I mean. I was given an FTE offer, so I know if the deal closes, I will be adopted into the BC sweatshop. As for my colleagues who haven't received an offer and don't have a job lined up, it will allow them time to find a job.

Actually if deal extends then decision making becomes easier. Things now su-k big time in our org. I am not sticking around. If deal extends then I will take any good offers and let go of severance /RSUs etc and leave. Best would be if I get an offer after March. Work will be light as they have paused everything so getting things started again will take time. Also I don’t think VMW will initiate any layoffs by themselves if deal is extended. So take the pay, do the minimum and keep looking for a new job.

Good, more time to prep for job search while still getting paid. Job market should improve in the new year. Focus on the main thing: your career.

I waited for 9 months to be born, I don't want to wait any longer. We need closure, the sooner the better. If this does not get resolved by Nov 26th. Our revenue sales and people's morale will drop further.
