Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Is it too late to get out?

Several of my team members were riffed on Halloween, our future is uncertain and the mood here is one of dread.

I would think this is what death row would be like hoping that when the executioner comes in he picks you so that you can leave this place and begin a new life.

But should we wait our turn for the executioner or leave as soon as possible?

I'm refusing to take part in any hiring interviews because I would hate to face someone who did get hired and then they found out how terrible this place was and I would have to face them on a daily basis.

It's just a terrible culture here now. Used to be ok, but now just like a funeral home.

I got a nice package when I was laid off by TD in January. However no package is worth your sanity/health after getting laid off. So, leave on your terms. Like other people said here, start applying and interviewing to jobs that you would be a good fit. Good luck.

Teradata as a company never cared about employees. They still don’t. Find another job and GO!

Job market is soft but don't stand still like a frog in a boiling pot.

Fulfill your duties as a professional with minimal time and effort.
But use remaining time and all resources available to you while employed to
update your resume, train on subject of relevance, and apply now.

Time flies, and if you keep moving, you will be more prepared, confident, more informed, and further along the process when the time comes, whether you choose to leave on your own or they kick you out.

Hope you can leave on your own terms when it matters most to them. They would not hesitate to dispose of you when it matters most to you.

Don't stick around be one of them. They are the worse people as many have attest.
Good luck.

It's never too late. The ELT and VPs are patting themselves on back for a job well-done. This should be incentive to get out ASAP.

In an effort to "improve the culture" (think "Diversity, Equity and Inclusion repeated endlessly in a Scottish accent), they destroyed the culture.

they will entice you with short term rewards but will get rid of you in a heart beat
don't get complacent and not just be trapped but turned into one of them
no need to act hastily but start today and complete the exit before they turn on you

If you're desperate, TD can provide a relatively safe place to land while you search for something better. Just don't get too comfortable otherwise you will end up desperate again. Always best to leave on your own terms.

never too late but do it ASAP w/o haste to enjoy a better life at a better company and better people
do it methodically and to your advantage
capitalizing on time on their dime to update resume, train, apply, interview
they can care less about you in the future layoffs so take care of yourself
