We can find almost any money for folks to cover their rearends, but we can't find a few bucks to save jobs, etc. at a major public university? That's tragic, but here's a suggestion to the Umass system. Buy the power plant next door and then sell the power back to the grid as part of Umass Lowell. The college of engineering could also use it in a Power Option for its department of Electrical Engineering. Look to the future for anything that lessens the burden of budget shortfalls. This idea would certainly help.
