She moves like she don't care
Smooth as silk, cool as air
Ooh it makes you wanna cry

She doesn't know your name
And your heart beats like a subway train
Ooh it makes you wanna die
...
Maria, you've gotta see her
Go insane and out of your mind
Latina, Ave Maria
A million and one candle lights

So what’s the incentive in driving a bread and butter company in to the ground? Solar panels aint going to cut it?

The long term goal at the top is to keep those below delivering, whilst being unaware that the method of delivery is not sustainable in the long term. There is no long term goal for subordinates. There is also a trend to buy successful companies such as Altus and absorb them into the Baker blob, eventually replacing the people that made these companies successful with Baker clones. We all know how this ends.

From top to bottom Baker managers have only one concern, that is to avoid displeasing the one above them in the food chain. They will do and say anything to achieve this end, even if they themselves know it is wrong. It is for these qualities that they are chosen so as not to present a threat to those above. Hence when the one at tho top has another stupid idea, no one speaks up. Bit like a dictatorship

This is what drives the short term thinking at the company. Fear of not making the next quarter target earnings pushes people to do anything they can to meet it, cutting hours (productivity) and making any cuts possible just to get them over the line. You also get the managers who pump more hours thru their plants without actually producing anything to make it look good (this has been going on since GE days so must be officially approved practice)What a way to work.

Must me an American thing as they always use to refer to Lorenzo, Maria, Neil, etc. as they were households names when in reality you are never going to speak or interact with them like ever. It's a way to make you feel they are approachable. However with Maria I think we have reached another level as it is pretty clear the senior leadership team in ofse is afraid of her. From the outside it looks like some king of bullying is going on at that level. Mild to strong bullying seems actually to be a quality these days and rewarded with promotions within the Company so I wouldn't be surprised if you need to be good at that to hold certain positions.

How can a multi national business constantly refer to ‘Maria’ daily!? Apparently she makes it up as she shuffles along - they all do - fear of one women across an org like this is laughable.
