Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Transitional Offer

Letter received today from Broadcom for a transitional period. No one on my team has received any letters until this point, and we’re all now getting the same letter with the same duration.

I find it surprising that Broadcom would continue to send out letters, if there wasn’t 100% certainty that the deal would go through. It looks like the letters were paused until negotiations were complete.

No guarantees that the deal is closing, but this is the most obvious sign that something is happening.

Is it only just a couple of offers?
No one mentioned what is the start date given in the new batch of offer letters?
Previous offer letters had mentioned around oct 30th.

OP, sorry for all the trolling here. You were right all along. Couple of offers did roll out yesterday and today.

To the trolls - you have your proof in unofficial slack channel. Go check it. Someone confirmed there too

I'm a Sr. Director and have first hand knowledge that there are some edge cases where people who should have gotten offers (FTE and/or transitional). It happened to someone on my team!

My VP said their leadership was working with Broadcom VP of HR to pull together lists of "mistakes" and to work on remediation plans. That's what I knew as of a week and a half ago. I can only assume that what's being reported here is the manifestation of that remediation plan.

The real trolls on this thread are the seemingly disgruntled employees gaslighting the OP saying cr-p like "post it in Slack or it's BS".

To the OP and others who got offers yesterday, congrats and welcome to the next round of the waiting game.

To the trolls claiming these people are trolls.....crawl back under your bridge and stop being bullies!

Otherwise, I call this 100% BS.

Not fake. I just put eyeballs on similar posts in VMware Slack. I’m not saying this means anything w.r.t. closing, but it looks like letters are coming out again for a few folks.

OP - Don’t post anything on internal Slack now since you have already posted here an on Blind. These guys will out you and I don’t think it’s a good thing. People are leaving these days as some had outside offers which they cannot stall indefinitely. And companies are giving good enough TC that they can ignore severance and retention RSUs. So these new transition offers might just be backfilling. Also could be as a result of further understanding of our processes /systems that they realize they need you for something. Integration analysis is still going on.

To me this is a sign of some movement in the direction of deal closing. If there was to be a delay or cancellation then there is no need to give any new offers. They could have just asked OP to work on transition stuff without any offers. Transition offers are meant to lock people for couple of months as you can’t decline them. If you decline transition offer then you get no WARN notice, no severance and also loose retention RSUs (in Ops)

"Offers that were related to genuine errors were sent out and I can confirm i am a manager and one of my team who was originally missed for his offer today.
Whether that denotes a secret knowledge of BC HR that the deal closes, I doubt it.
Everyone is treading water waiting for this 26th date."

Could you please let us know what is the start date mentioned on the offer letters sent out today?
Previous offer letters had oct 30th as the start date.

If it's legit, go and post about it on the slack channel. You have no credibility otherwise

Yeah OP, sorry for all the vitriol on here, you do seem to be posting real information. I am not sure that's really a sign of deal news, given that they have jumped the g-n on many things here. However, it can't hurt as they sure wouldn't be doing that if they heard the deal was off either.

Thanks - sorry this anonymous crowd scared you off.

Thanks a lot OP, if what you are saying is true.
You should know why people are skeptic here, due to the fake news and all that.
Please give us some details.
How long is the offer for?
12 months?
In the previous offer letters, it was mentioned start date would be oct 30th or around that date.
What is the start date mentioned in your offer letter?
Thanks again.

This is the OP (original poster). I didn't post this in the broadcom unofficial Slack channel BECAUSE it has been so quiet in there. Its concerning that there isn't a discussion about others getting offers, which makes me think that the amount is low. I don't want to share too much information (region: USA), to make my post no longer 'Anonymous'.

Because of the toxic posts made here recently, as well as the toxic responses, I won't be sharing any additional information. If you think this post is fake, that doesn't affect me.

This site is essentially dead to me now, and I won't be visiting or posting here again.

They sent me a promotion letter, if the deal closes I get to be a C level exec with 100,000 RSUs that vest in 10 years.
Just gotta hope I don't get laid off first!

Considering how quickly the news of offers going out hit the internal Slack, I would expect at least one person to announce this there and not only on layoff.com

OP is either not VMW and just trolling for the sake of it or VMW employee but lacks the b@lls to attempt such troll at a non-anonymous forum.

In other words... get f'ed troll

The deal is dead. China blocked the deal. It's over.
