I'm new so I don't know if this is true, but it feels like people saying this are fear-mongering more than anything. I can't see many companies being that inconsiderate. I know those at the top don't care one way or another, but optics matter to them, and getting rid of people ahead of Christmas is not good optics. Am I wrong?

Companies care about profits and survival above all else. They see employee morale as also important, but secondary to profits. It's not just Qualcomm.
Performance reviews are a lie... when they restrict what #s of employees can have positive numbers ... which Qualcomm does.
I am in the October batch to get the notice and the termination day is Dec 13.
They did a lay off a week before Christmas last year for poor performance. If there will be another lay off it will be performance based. Otherwise, nothing until March.
Relax, No more layoffs for this year
