Thread regarding Broadcom Corp. layoffs

Can someone explain to the VMW people how IC job codes/titles work at Broadcom?

At VMW we used the Radford index with P levels within a wide variety (THOUSANDS!) of different job codes. We've heard Broadcom's setup is much simpler but it might be helpful for us VMW folk waiting on offers to get some context about job levels, titles, comp bands, etc. to build a mental model of things and to get a sense of how our offers fit into the big picture.

  1. How many levels do you have?
  2. What does the distribution of people look like across those levels?
  3. What are typical comp bands at various levels (do you even KNOW your comp bands at Broadcom?!)
  4. What are typical RSU grants at various IC levels? (size & frequency)

Bonus points for Broadcomers who can shed light on how RSU grants and bonus structures differ between IC and Management roles.

Anonymous' comment about "No Visa or GC sponsorship" is not true for existing employees. Or even about hiring. There is a preference to avoid Visa sponsorship hassle, but it's not considered a deal breaker.

1 & 3 - levels.fyi

  1. Broadcom prefers experienced folks and therefore lot of them are experienced. No visa or GC sponsorship.
  2. Your base salary wouldn’t change much. Depending on company and BU perf, perf bonus is about 30-50% of your base. RSU grants are probably close to 100-130% of your base. These are for mid career. Higher your level, higher will be your % and otherwise. Rough numbers not including the stock appreciation.

Welcome grant and promotion grant has higher % like maybe 200% or over. Again rough numbers.

I think you should reference Glassdoor for general band compensation. Distribution? Hah, everyone is at the lowest level that Hock commands!
