PICK BASIC was developed the mid 1960's, and the Windows OS debuted a scant 40 years ago. SQL was developed in 70's. Chevrolet was established in 1911. This doesn't mean they are obsolete. All have seen regular development since their inception. Are there newer players shaking things up like Tesla and Object Store databases like MongoDB. Sure, each has their strengths and weaknesses. Once you shop all the "free" databases and see what's available and imagine having to license and support seats for all of CDK's sites and many users, you may see their in-house perpetual license has allowed the company to keep costs down and profit from their DMS more than most competitors. I think CDK's database would benefit from some extensive modernization.... but it's not my problem anymore...because... what's this site about?

The FP/Kerridge "Drive" product (branded by cdk before they got rid of CDKI) is written in KCML in the 1970's starting on Wang Basic and has layers of garbage added on top to make it pseudo-web based. I'd be shocked if Pinewood actually wanted that garbage. Likely they're just buying the manufacturer integrations, because that's the only thing that would really be worth anything at this point.

The CDK DMS Is a US product written PICK BASIC from the 1960s, it has additional layers of software on top of it to make it work in a web browser. There is no evidence that anyone else wants to buy it.

That being the case, why are we talking about non-CDK topics in this 'CDK Global Layoffs' board?

Rev8 is a Kerridge Product supported mostly in the UK (Kerridge was sold off of CDK long ago) -- Drive is a North American product owned by CDK -- I don't know of anyCDK UK staff. You sound confused. What are you talking about?

What about all the other applications that are dependent on Drive?
