@1rtz+1p8YMEdN for most, simply going into an office isn't the problem it's moving across the country to go into the office that's the problem.

I too remember the days of using the Rand McNally map book to get to a destination, but now I use the GPS built into my car. I also remember having to look for a pay phone and change to call home, now I just use my cell phone in my pocket, or my watch. I remember getting on my dialup internet and waiting 9 hours to download internet explorer 4 when it came out.

Just because I remember those things doesn't mean they are or were better. Not all that is new is great. The same is true for the old. To paraphrase grace hopper, just because we've always done it that way is no reason to move on and embrace change. Maybe you should learn that lesson and quit being one of the people holding the world back from advancing.

When you were a kid you were told that tech would reduce the time you'd have to work, and give you a better life. Why are you now rejecting the small steps in that direction...

I am probably as old as the last poster, and also worked IN an office for a substantial time. However, the tools, and the team location diversity has changed. When working with off-shore associates and talented associates in unique situations, it is being rigid for no practical reason to insist that the majority of work to be in office. Talented resources are hard to come by, so overlooking situations to retain those people is destructive. Don’t call people who are smart enough to recognize productive work scenarios as crybabies. Matbe you are a dinosaur.

I always worked IN the office and after 40 years or so at it, I do not see the rationale of crybabies who whine about it. GROW UP and work in the office. Unless you are remote and cashiered by FB for no damn good reason save age. I am old enough to remember driving to a hotel using a Rand McNalley map in a rainstorm for directions - no IPhone - and pay phones when needed. F'Crissake folks - grow ujp.

24 percent of associates in one BU agreed that working in an office was most effective. This seems like a big divide with what the executive suite is insisting on. A reckoning might be coming on this topic.
