I wonder what will come of the water folks

San Andreas needs more injection
Believe me I am the farthest thing from Greta. I am proud to be in oil and gas. If you can't see the difference between using treated municipal wastewater and recycling produced water let me know and I'll try to explain it.
Seismicity is becoming a big challenge. It is in all of our interest to reduce the amount of injection we are doing. The best way to do this is to use recyled produced water for our new wells and not introduce new water into the system. Each bbl of treated municipal wastewater introduced into the system is more we have to inject eventually.
Hopefully ExxonMobil walks away from the stupid idea started by Pioneer of using water from the Midland and Odessa sewage treatment plants and just uses produced water to frac new wells.
Appears some of the Pioneer folks were never taught the water cycle. Good thing the bond passed. Maybe they will figure out the use of treated sewage for fraccing is the definition of greenwashing.

okay, Greta
Water is life
I will say that the mileage Pioneer got out of using sewage water always pi---d me off. The municipal waste water used to be treated and went back into the draw where it soaked into the ground again. People don't like to think about it but that was recharging the aquifer instead of going into fraccing. Greenwashing at its finest by Pioneer.
XTO engineer here. Just look at the water system XTO has in New Mexico. With a big contiguous acreage position it is beneficial to have your own water system. I say the water system isn't sold off. ExxonMobil is also very worried about seismicity so wants to be in control of where, at what rate, etc. water is being injected.
PWM = Pointless Waste of Money
Pioneer Water Management
High quality H2O
What is PWM?
If that was actually the case why did they sell off all the subsidiaries that they’ve had? Trust me the water department will be gone ASAP after close. Third party disposal just like mass consolidation is how this business is going.
Are any of ya'll replying actually smart or know anything about water ops? If it wasn't for water management department, Pioneers spending costs would be exponentially higher and not worth $60B
PWM is hosed.
No money for Exxon in the water businesses bud. They will sell it because they don’t want the liabilities of the nasty stuff. They will get a sweet contract with a third party like XRI to dispose of it. They are doing that now with what water they have.
No money in water... Tell that to XRI bud
Exxon is unaware of a water management department.
Trust me they will sell off the water management as soon as they can. No money in the water business! Exxon is an oil company sugar😂
They wont sell it off. If you own the water you own the Permian. Straight mad max style.
Exxon doesn’t care about the water department. They will sell off that asset shortly after the deal is finalized. I believe they currently use a third party company for water disposal and reuse in the Permian.
