Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Staples won't even last 2 years

I've been at Staples for a short time and I won't rehash too much on what other people here have posted but I think this forum is too optimistic on the viability of Staples as a company. You can't have a retail chain of dirty, unkempt rundown stores with a limited and quite honestly overpriced floor plan combined with print departments that are a mess and badly understaffed stores and expect to compete in the market. (No one with brains is going to spend $19.99 on what is basically dollar store merchandise.) How anyone can think that this place will even exist in 2025 or later is beyond me.

Staple's corporate management needs to get a clue. Otis, John, Mike, and the rest of you - you are like a punchline to a bad joke if this is your style of retailing. Your idea of Amazon Returns makes me think one of you has $$$ tied up in Amazon and this is your way of holding your cr-p up. How could you be so stupid to NOT charge for Amazon Returns? Maybe 10% of the Amazombie customers actually buy anything with the coupons you give out from that. Don't even get me started on the waste of boxes, tape and the trash piling up from the Amazon id--ts. If there is anyone at Staples that needs to be fired and get thrown into a fast food job its YOU, although you'd probably sc--w that up too.

And judging by how you talk to people, you all need to get off your high horse for once.

The truth is, your take on conditions are dead on. The slow deterioration is staggeringly reminiscent of Zayres, Sears, and a host of other big retailers that lost the eye appeal of well-kept personal attention you noticed the moment you walked in the door. Whenever I visit now it feels much like a dying ghost town - which says a lot. Generally, you have hunt for assistance,, and they always happy to do so. Their retail segment is ripe for a buyout, followed by the immediate closing of unprofitable locations, which probably means over 50% of them.

From what I've seen on SBA both here and in person I'd even be pessimistic on that part of the company. Most of the small business customers that come into my store are usually the crummiest and sleaziest ones you can find! I wouldn't buy a can of soda from these clowns.

Agree with you on retail, but SBA is unrelated...
