Thread regarding VMware layoffs

What is the purpose of this?

Why not simply do the acquisition, everyone comes over and then start the layoffs. This period of 4-6 weeks with no idea of what is happening with your role or the company strategy is really insane and I’ve been through 4 acquisitions myself and none have occured in this grotesque manner. Bad for business. Bad for morale. Bad in general. what purpose does this serve other than the damage the existing business???

There are folks who they want to keep and they’re alienating them already. I don’t get why you wouldn’t want as smooth an initial transition as possible

Betsy is given crumbs from Hock, he is in charge and does what he wants when he wants, like a good dictator would. Do you think being taken over by Putin would be some sort of open affair with transparency? Hock is our Putin. Get used to no hugs and a work for money only situation if your survive the hunger games.

Watch the all hands. Betsy said mid October for offers to start.
Not only is that not correct, most offer are not coming until Oct 30th now.

She wasn't wrong. Mid-Oct for offers to start, not complete. It was always said that offers would be between mid-Oct and end of October. This did not change, just the way you perceived it.

So, again, what did leadership say that was wrong?

To the OP, you clearly don't work in Europe, since that's exactly what has to happen by law.

No purpose, the corporate lawyers at BC will do what they want when they want.

They couldn’t care less about your feelings.

BC consistently said end of Oct to investors.

Betsy and Company try to get water out of the BC rock, but fail, since BC does not care about them either.

Also likely many will not have any comms at all until after nov 1st.
Stupid to manage it this way.

Straight from our execs and now it’s changing again.

Yes. And I have to sit through the AMER/EMEA and APJ ones. The only reference to 15 Oct was as the date that VMware Foundation is going away.

What exactly do you believe was said and then changed?

“ BC said end of October, so we wait until end of October. They didn't say 1 Sep (though people here spread that rumor). They didn't say 15 Oct. TLO and Blind did. Some here are stirring themselves up in an echo chamber, arguing over how bad it is”
Nah dude. Did you even listen to the all hands and Betsy. Straight from our execs and now it’s changing again.

Some of you have never been through a bad acquisition and dealt with delays, miscommunication, and offers sent to the wrong people. This is nowhere near a bad acquisition.

BC said end of October, so we wait until end of October. They didn't say 1 Sep (though people here spread that rumor). They didn't say 15 Oct. TLO and Blind did. Some here are stirring themselves up in an echo chamber, arguing over how bad it is.

Rest of us, and leadership, are just in the cornering giving you the random thumbs-up. "Good job!"

And be glad you won't be given a position in the new company, then a week later sent a generic email retracting the offer and terminating you immediately.

This will become the norm if you accept employment with AVGO. Just remember that

“The question is, do you want to be in this kind of relationship? Do you accept these terms?

BC's behavior here tells you what the relationship will be like”

THE ACCURACY :(***

The sales guys are ki-ling it. Many companies signing deals before BC take over on 31st to seal deals before BC change the rules.

Some people are making hay. It’s like a close down sale. Shame I’m not a sales guy :-(

You are on a first date with someone you find attractive. You say something critical and get a slap across the face. So you think "Are you really going to jeopardize a possible relationship over one slap?"

BUT, THAT'S NOT THE RIGHT QUESTION. The question is, do you want to be in this kind of relationship? Do you accept these terms?

BC's behavior here tells you what the relationship will be like.

The date was set months ago. It's not like they're delaying it.

Based on your post I cannot believe you've been through four acquisitions before. This one is going pretty smoothly.

It is indeed damaging our business and no one feels like doing anything these days. Nutanix is taking advantage big time of this mess.
