If you're not prepared by now for any and all possible outcomes, I don't know what to tell you. You've had more than enough time to look for a better position, to network, to build up your savings, and to do everything possible to make sure you're okay once D-day arrives. If you didn't, you have only yourself to blame.

This is perhaps the most telling part for just how privileged you are; not everyone can do this (and before you project, I am more than comfortable and have lived through some horrible layoffs; they are not felt equally in all people's situations, as everyone's situation is different and not always in their control).
what a sh*tty way to treat people. Hope no one ever treats you this was when you experience anything out of your control. And if someone did treat you this way get therapy and stop projecting your pain onto others.
I really don't understand these kinda "tough love" posts that no one asked for.

Not sure why so many down votes OP is speaking facts. We’ve had a year to prepare, to save up, to look for another job and to have a plan for all possible scenarios. We knew this was coming, it’s business, it’s life.
