The decision makers are politicians. No understanding of the reality on ground and how things get done. There is a real possibility that Qualcomm outrightly loses modem leadership coming out of this downturn and ends up playing catch up in every business it operates.

Several people I know that we impacted were absolutely the right people to go. Way beyond their productivity prime, just su-king up oxygen and earning a fat paycheck.
- 65 yr should be mandatory retirement age.
- VP or above position has 10 year term. Leave or go back to IC.

Not really financially oriented thou. They laid off engineers, secretary, etc. How is that financially driven. Top dogs are the one to blame company is in this state. We are getting rid of staffs that doesn't have high salary. For what reason? I cannot brain this.
This round was purely financially motivated. It made nothing to do with ability or contribution, just money. The Spring cycle will be for poor performers.
So if you do your job and keep a good attitude, you will be fine.
