Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Nielsen is a shadow of what it used to be

Too many people short on time and short on staff... The only thing keeping this ship afloat is the dedication from the people who have been there for the long haul.. SHAME ON OUR LEADERSHIP for dragging this down and expecting 100%+ quality, 100%+ on time, with ZERO support, no RAISES, and alot of corporate speak. Who do they think they are fooling here ?

A 100 percent this! @xvd+1p3PPJrt makes a great point.

Welcome to finance capitalism. It is not about this or that company, it is the system that was either set up this way or what it evolved into.

Yes everything all have written here is true and then some. I have only been at the company a few years and thus feel like a spectator in many regards. Even as a relatively new person it's obvious that the new owners wish to sell off certain pieces of the company. To be honest its a good idea because Nielsen is truly audience measurement for video all the other departments were just opportunistic acquisitions. With America mostly broadband only households it seems like the focus for Nielsens future should be on helping the large streaming platforms create mass audience measurement. Why keep the other departments if its not a public company and there is no future for a reissued IPO?

The investor do not consider Nielsen's products, customers, or employees as part of the plan except where it impact profits. The investor's concern is with cutting costs; maximizing the investor's profits; finally repackaging Nielsen into parts that can be sold. It is a financial and investment packaging plan. Do not confuse this with a building a great company that makes great products plan.

The investor did not buy Nielsen to make it a better company long-term. Understand this motivations and be acting on it.

At some point, we had to set up mobile offices because Nielsen was expanding at an alarming rate. Nielsen rented offices all over the place, and even though space wasn't enough for the nearly 50,000 employees. Today, all that has changed: The labor force has shrunk to almost nothing, and revenue is drying up rapidly. The so-called leadership is grabbing what's left, fattening their pockets while the ship sinks.
