Has anyone been asked to go in full 5 days? I know managers are on site full time now, but what about their employees? We were doing 2x before being asked to start going in 3x now — are they tracking swipes, what happens if I just continue WFH

Get yourself an automatic mouse controller where it moves the mouse for you every second.
Those in the office get face time and are seen by management. The face time can be a deciding factor in who gets cut in a cost cutting environment. Might not cut the right people but....
My company just laid-off people in North America on Oct 5th. Majority were those who worked remotely or hybrid (2 days a week in the office). They were checking badge swipes and those who didn't come in at least two days a week were also let go since they signed a contract (online) with the company that they would be hybrid and come in two days a week.
The reason most companies want people to come back to the office is because the township where the office is located gives a tax incentive to the company. More people that go to the office, will use local restaurants, local business like the farmers market, banks, car repair shops, etc during lunch or after work bringing business to the local businesses/shops.
