10/13 Party

Did anyone go to the company party in Palo Alto Friday? After all the talk about it, I did not even see anything about it last week.
I am in NYC, there was a company funded party there last week.

It was rumored Train was going to perform at the PA Campus event.

“You must be a loser jealous outsider troll since the bashes were held in all large office and others could travel to those locations to enjoy.

While the Palo Alto bash catered to 20% of the vmw population, lots of people from other states came the week to enjoy the festivities. You could have traveled too instead of burying yourself into a hole and being jealous.”

…and hang out with delights like yourself on my own dime, while I’m paid less than those of you in the Bay Area and treated like a second class citizen because I’m remote?

I’ll pass, thanks. 😂😂😂

Is it really that hard to imagine a world where all employees are treated like they matter?

I asked about doing this. I was cautioned against it because it required an event wristband, which was first-come, first-served. There was no guarantee of entry after flying in.

There were plenty of wrists bands for grab at the event. all you need is a badge to access the building HTA, lobby.

Post from TheLayoff.com

Those of not in Palo Alto were not really paying attention to a party it was IMPOSSIBLE for us to attend.

Apparently not a lot of Train fans in the shared youtube link. Evanescence probably would have matched the tone of the company much little better. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5E-N8RSWwqU

“It was a fun event and well attended. great food, swag, games, music, laughter, dancing and lots of booze. I'm glad they had this farewell event.”

How nice they could do this for a small
Number of employees while the rest of us don’t even get an email thanking us for our contributions, let along swag, food or booze. Very nice.

The chosen ones work out of a site which was considered important enough for a bash, the majority of us do not and had nothing.

Why didn't the company use that money to help save a few jobs? That could have helped a few people with an entire years worth of salary which was spend in a few hours. What is happening ...

What is was in a different budget of money. Just like they're not going to fire you to pay an AWS bill.

Jobs that are worth saving are being saved. Who will make that decision? If someone is laid off, then it is determined to be best for the business.

We all know this is a business decision, and it is based on facts and data, not what would make people feel better.

Because they are toothless tigers at the moment, they don’t have much say how Broadcom has to spend money post acquisition.

"Rumored"?

It was explicitly said multiple times in multiple places.
