Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

November 7, 2023

If you haven't been looking for other employment, say I didn't warn you. You won't be able to go to your lower craft. The union will NOT be able to place you. Read your contract. UP is working vigorously into combining jobs to eliminate waste and to improve traffic. Dwell is down. Business is business

Vena you piece of sh-t ,, people quit there jobs they worked for years to come work here at the up and now that your in the chair your furloughs are already starting to impact everyone. People on the a-s end of seniority such as my self have been getting fu---d since right around the time you took over. You want sons advice from singing in the ground level. WATCH!!!!!! Half of the utility guys are AS WORTHLESS AS YOU! They don’t do sh-t for US conductors but make sh-t harder.
All I can say is watch the amount of whistle blowers you have come forward after you give no one a reason to be loyal. I’ll be the first in line. The most dangerous sh-t I’ve ever seen and half the engineers shouldn’t have a license to read a god damned book let alone operate a train.

UP does follow the WARN act but they do not list it in advance….when they mass laid off in LA in January 2020 they announced the layoffs the day they did it and gave the furloughed employees 60 days pay to comply with the WARN ACT…Bottomline is they will never tip their hand in advance. The only thing agreement employees could go off of is the fact that we have a bonus paid out on Dec 1st….Like someone else posted before, they don’t wanna pay it out, so just assume a big layoff WILL HAPPEN between now and Nov 30th

There are records of UP having to comply with WARN Act layoff notifications several times. See the WARN history here: https://www.warntracker.com/?company=union-pacific It gives a feel for which UP has used it for - I'm not a WARN expert, but maybe the company doesn't have to use it for furloughs if it can argue they are temporary. I bet it has to use it for permanent abolishments / shop closings if there are over 50 in an area...Just the feel I get looking at this. (Any WARN experts, feel free to chime in.)

Sources say this is good intelligence, and I’m not talking Mike Ockballs

@1sdb-Sorry to burst your bubble, but UP doesn’t follow the WARN Act, even if they are required to. That’s why they do smaller sized layoffs at random instead of a massive one across the system in one day.

Still nothing posted to WARN, so either way, nothing major can happen for at least 60 days

Hey Vena, I think you better read the contract yourself. Keep digging that hole for yourself. We're watching and we're waiting!

@OP-Hey Vena, if you want to eliminate waste and improve the railroad, get rid of yourself. And take anyone that decided to hire you with you. GTFO.
