Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Filtering out unqualified emplt

Have anyone notice the last time they told us to update our skill set and experience result in filtering unqualified or less experienced employees to layoff? Just got email from my admin to fill out experiences and skill set colleague zone to win swag bag. It look like a trap for another round of layoff to me since the first ask was less than 6-9 month ago

Recent layoffs had nothing to do with skill set. We lost some good talent with lots of knowledge.

Let’s see. Nothing transferred from the prior system. So takes about an hour to fill everything in. On company time. 330,000 colleagues. Divide that by 2000, the number of hours that a full time colleague is assumed to work. Equal to 165 people just entering information for a year. What a joke.

Let out, still haven’t gotten pay statements.

@bee: My thoughts exactly! Catch 22. If you don’t sign it and agree with the statement, you don’t get your severance. However, just like you said you’re admitting that you were poor performer, even though you were not.

This is so unfair. But everything with this layoff has been unfair not to mention still haven’t gotten! They are required to provide them to you by law, so that you can see what deductions that were taken out of your pay.

Such a shame…

Oh boy, I just realized my experience and education didn't carry over from MyHR. I went in and updated my skills in Workday right after that was mentioned in the town hall, but didn't see the other sections then. If I get laid off because I didn't do the rest until today, I'm going to be pi---d.

Same boat. I first assumed it was a CYA by CVS. Having that sentence makes it more likely people will be upset, but likely not be upset enough or have the resources to challenge that assersion. Once you sign the paperwork, you have effectively agreed that you were a low performer and would negate any subsequent recourse.

Wondering that as well since my paperwork had the same statement and also had good reviews and high bonuses.

Better make yourself look valuable!

Was told that the layoff was no reflection of my performance and had always had great reviews. Then I read the severance paperwork and it states it was performance related. Hmmmmm… Do they say this for legal purposes, cover themselves? Like if someone tried to sue, they could say, “yeah they were a poor performer, that’s why we let them go.” I KNOW I was not and have received calls, emails, messages, etc. from peers wishing I was still there and that many of those that picked up my work have been substandard at best.

Oooh this makes my blood boil. Shame on you C-S/Ae-NA.

We received this notice from our leadership too. They want to make sure they are utilizing all the talent the fullest. I think after the last two months everyone knows what is truly happening. Maybe I was only safe last time because I packed My Success with tons of stuff. Who even knows.

Yep they want to make it easier to choose who to keep and who to rehire to other roles after whacking them.

Think about it this way, gentle OP (original poster). As you fill out the skills assessment, reflect carefully on all the value you have to offer. Leverage the opportunity to realize how amazing you are, and climb back into the driver’s seat of your career. You may choose to continue on the CVS bus, yet there are many more paycheck vehicles out there. Update your resume, expand your professional network and thrive, not just survive. Best of luck and strength to you whatever your decision!

And the frustrating part, is they will try and paint a picture that they are doing it under the guise that they are trying to make things more cross-functional and leverage people from other departments who can offer a skill-set and train other people. None of that is true. They are simply using it as an assessment on who can be potentially be considered for another round of layoffs.

This round is going to be big it has to be done ASAP. They are outsourcing all jobs as fast as they can overseas. They have had it with US employees especially after the Risk of the word of Unions. If the Employees unionize they can't get out of the country and shift your job out. They might not even wait for you they are looking to layoff 2 out 3 NOW! Panic has set in.
