Also most of the status collectors are saved
Junior hard working engineers mainly are let go

Perhaps he meant to say no more layoffs until the next layoff..at least it should be interpreted that way..sigh..

The only people left will be status collectors because they won't be hired as status collector at other companies. I am sure some of them can go back to being IC at other companies, but a vast majority of them think it is beneath them to go back to becoming an IC.
Management hopes you quit so they don't have to pay out severance. They'll start turning the screws & work pressure will increase til you crack. -- Are We having a good time?
The good ones will leave. The ones remaining are the useless ones who won't find any job outside. Many of the Q employees are unemployable.
There will be an AR-based reduction
To get the total to 5-6K for the past year. And then nothing until around this time next year.
