Does anybody actually believe them? I know I don't. I'm doing my best to find a way out of Qualcomm. There's no future here.

Actually, he said the last one period. He didn’t say anything about year/quarter etc… regardless, he really didn’t even have to say that. Call me a hopeless optimist but I really want to believe him.
If this layoff has shown us anything, it’s that there isn’t the competence to quickly do another (i.e. another one this year). But looking in my corner of the world at those that were selected without input from middle management, I don’t see how this is going to fix any problems other than on a spreadsheet. In fact, they created more problems yesterday and will motivate survivors to find a new path at a new company. So I expect plenty of problems through next year or until there’s an actual strategy to focus the work.
Hiding behind macro events has an expiry date. I am sure the entire C-suite and Board is on notice from activist investors and fund managers. Q looks like a terrible investment in their portfolio.
Yes, this may be true due to your states WARN notice rules of 60 day notification (and in some states 90 day notification) which would be around the second week of Dec if you count 60 days from today Oct 12, 2023.
Then for next year, it could be another round or several rounds of layoffs depending on the economy/business/etc.
