Neighborhood Stores

What are people hearing about the “neighborhood” stores? Will there be another round of closures in January?

Neighborhood stores are different than the more modern small format store. Don’t speak unless you know the difference.

We are opening 30 MSF (Macy's Small Format) locations over the next twenty four months. MSF is the future for growth. Opening these boxes requires significantly less capital than updating smaller, old format stores with much less annual overhead.

Expect to see the company continue to evaluate the stores portfolio and close lower volume stores where the ROI can be better leveraged in future MSF investment.

I think that there are a good chunk of stores that need to be closed if not at least converted to a clearance store. I don’t know why Macy’s doesn’t do this. It’s a great way to keep full-line stores looking upscale without all that messy last act areas. Either renovate the stores or close them!

Yes neighborhood doors will close. They are still being designated like the terms G50, G100, G150, G250, Flagship, Magnet, Core, and NBHD
