Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Warning shot

Yesterday's layoffs seems like a warning shot to push employees to start working harder. The numbers make no sense in light of decline in chip sales. What is Q management playing at ?

Do they want to keep us constantly worried about our jobs ? Now we can't believe what CA or management say .... especially anything around layoffs and this being the last round. CA and team should step down.

I worked hard and I'm still gone. Doesn't matter.

In my arena we see the affects of QCOM's possible problems early. It looks like things might be getting worse with the reduction in spending seen this past year and moving forward. It is there plan to further reduce spending, so expect more RIF's soon...maybe not in the 1st/2nd QFY24, but plan to see it happen in 3rd/4th QFY24.

@aiw:

  1. We don’t know numbers yet. Just because the teams you’re on/interact with weren’t heavily impacted doesn’t mean this wasn’t large.
  2. We were never told that this layoff was meant to bring us to pre-pandemic numbers

@vgp+1p3k8i24 numbers are no where close to post pandemic head count growth.

We don’t know the numbers yet. Just be thankful your team wasn’t heavily impacted. Others were.

Seems more like a warming to people resting and vesting. Others work hard anyway as there have to pick up the slack.
