...the good-bye lunches the manager(s) who threw you under the bus hold in your honor, calling it "A team-building event". At least the ones not hiding out in their offices. No shame whatsoever.

@cds Don't worry, I quit a while ago. And I'm not making up what I said earlier. When a manager is so corrupt and evil to do and say the things my manager did, (and this example wasn't even the worst of it, it's just the tip of the iceberg), no person with any self respect would stay working for these animals. And believe me, a LOT of people ditched Q because of him. And still, despite all his failures, he got promoted to VP. Sickening. You can keep defending poor management, keep fooling yourself.
OP does not deserve to be in company he should be fired. No manager ever calls this lunch team building event. These are forced decisions and the lunch is sign of respect and goodwill

You are missing my point. I'm not blaming managers for having to lay off people. I'm saying they should call it a good-bye lunch, not a team-building event. It's insulting when they think they can keep altering reality. We are not stupid.
No manager wants to do this. This is the most horrible, gut-wrenching part of that job. You are given a number and you have to select good people who are going to have to lose their jobs. Stop blaming managers for doing the worst part of their jobs.
That’s not managers’ fault. Period!
If you’re looking for a guilty, that should be the management team.
Having a lunch with impacted people is a way of showing respect to those people and I appreciate that.
Those lunches are the best time to call out these numbskulls
