RSU Vesting Cycle

AvGO guy, can you comment on what the RSU vesting cycle is at Broadcom. Given that offers may come with RSU allocation, I wonder how the vesting will look like.

Doubtful. Its more likely you would receive your grant on 12/15 than first vesting

No cliffs, just 1/16th of grant the entire time

Is there usually a cliff vest?

Question, is that vest date the same for everyone? If we come on board say Nov 1st with an RSU grant as part of the offer, would the first vest date be 12/15/23?

Re: ex ca folks following VMware board: There are ex CA folks that now work/worked at VMware.

Re: RSU price
2018-2020 price was around 200$

The last dozen posts to the Broadcom TLO page were from VMware employees. I don't see why they wouldn't come stalk here to figure out WTF is wrong with people here =)

Could I politely ask — why does one who used to work at CA then Broadcom but no longer works there visit the VMware forum on the layoff.com? Totally no offense, but just curious what the draw is. I might be curious to read the news about another Broadcom acquisition, but otherwise I think I probably wouldn’t care enough to come here…

So 800 RSUs at $900/share plus dividends would put that comp plan at about 2.5-3M.

For that price, I’ll be hiring a staff of my own to stack rank myself.

Where do I sign up?

Used to be annually few years back. It’s quarterly now.

so , it is quarterly or annually? Annual will su-k, the point above where you will resign or just get fired before collecting anything. Not to mention if your health deteriorates over that time

Are RSU's applicable for everyone at BC or is it just tailored towards specific functions / roles?

Ahhh yeah, the golden carrot(s). Ex CA person here - 2018 acquisition. My welcome letter granted four dumps over 4 years, with the next dump “starting” to vest on following anniversary date.

My (welcome) letter looked something like this:
Welcome blah blah blah,

$here’s your salary (my salary didn’t change)
+Yearly incentive (changed from quarterly to yearly)
————
Yr1 800 RSUs
Yr2 800 RSUs
Yr3 800 RSUs
Yr4 800 RSUs

This is fantastic if you can make it without getting let go as a part of forced stack ranking or jumping ship from stress. I lasted a little over 2.5 years a little richer but worn out in every sense.

RSU’s worth a year‘s salary as welcome gift, vesting quarterly over 4 years.

And also receive additional RSUs every year.
