Get rid of the UAW... move manufacturing to Mexico and China where people actually want to work! These folks have EVERYTHING! And WANT more!! Why not just pay them a whole weeks wage for 2 days? And full benefits, which they already have... I hope they all get what they deserve, Karma will come.

You use pneumatic tools to tighten the same four bolts over and over again. Then the next ja----s puts the gas cap on.

You aren’t rocket scientist. You are monkeys in the zoo.

Union always pays off. Look at UPS workers. Drivers near 50.00 hr. and pay nothing per month for benefits. Even the Dentists and Doctors will comment about the excellent coverage not normally seen in their offices.

Remember some companies pay "Union Busting" folks money to try to downplay belonging to a Union. They will even hire legal teams who do nothing else but try to downplay the value of belonging to a Union. Basically, paid commercials for one side or the other. Common sense always says be Union unless you choose to work for free.

The UAW is obsolete. Auto workers no longer earn 2x the national average. They now are at parity with the private sector. There's literally no advantage to being in the UAW, other than struggling to make it on $500/wk every four years. And now that UAW is playing hardball, a tough new contract will accelerate the push to move plants to the south. This is the trend; it has been happening for years. It's not a theory or an idea. Go to a McDonalds or Walmart and see the results of the push for higher wages. Do you see workers anywhere? You see a kiosk or self-checkout. The trend is higher wages, fewer workers. Welcome to your future.

From the WSJ:

Today wages for auto workers—both union and nonunion—are closer to the private-sector average. The trend started in the mid-2000s as auto jobs migrated South, and accelerated after the 2007-09 recession, when the United Auto Workers union agreed to concessions to rescue struggling automakers.

Workers who aren’t union members have benefited quickly from the solid labor market with higher pay. Wages for union members, on the other hand, are often tied to multiyear labor contracts, which aren’t designed to respond right away to changes in the demand for workers. That is partly why the UAW is now demanding wage gains in the mid-30% range—it is playing catch-up.

Another difficulty for UAW members is that new auto plants are increasingly being built in the South, where wages are sometimes lower and unions have historically been weaker. Last year’s passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, which offered $7,500 tax credits to buy electric vehicles, has pushed companies to open new EV facilities, many of them in southern states.

"It is obvious without UAW, companies cannot be trusted to do what is right."

Here is a report on Tesla employee pay. Compare it to what average UAW workers make. Tesla is of course non-union. It seems as if Telsa pays competitive wages without a union. How can this be?

How much does Tesla Motors pay?

Tesla Motors pays its employees an average of $25.32 an hour. Hourly pay at Tesla Motors ranges from an average of $17.85 to $37.37 an hour. Tesla Motors employees with the job title Tool and Die Maker make the most with an average hourly rate of $34.71, while employees with the title Automobile Service Advisor make the least with an average hourly rate of $17.80.

UAW are greed stoppers. Take a stand for the little folks and help improve safety and pay. It is obvious without UAW, companies cannot be trusted to do what is right.

Will not likely move offshore due to taxation and tariff rules that eat away at profits. UAW is sensible in their approach to getting a fair contract settlement by giving the business plenty of opportunity to settle. They could have called for a strike much larger in the beginning. KTP going on strike is huge. A wake-up call in case the business was sleeping.
