The way I see this is a bit different - we have hundreds (or thousands of people) who just lost jobs and I think it's newsworthy - now, they may be walked out next week but the separation news broke today. If i was a journo, I'd jump on this as nobody else is covering and our news sell well.

Lol, no one is leaving tomorrow or today. You get a week to clear out. The real paychecks stop in two months. Why would there be any coverage?
You don't think the corporate media team has not told them how to manage it?

Went to Google News, set the filter to last 7 days, searched for Qualcomm Layoffs and nothing RELEVANT comes up. I am sure ABC 10 will be there shortly (like last time) to cover it live, they love scenes with people leaving buildings with cardboxes in their hands...
