I’ve heard similar. On the tech side, but I haven’t heard what areas or how big.

Earnings just came out.

UHG only had an increase of 14% this quarter with revenues at $6.9 billion.
Optum's third-quarter revenues grew 22% to $56.7 billion. Operating earnings were $3.9 billion compared to $3.7 billion last year.

I wouldn't be surprised to see more mass layoffs.

Been hearing the same rumor here since a smaller RIF occured back in August. Middle of Oct is what I heard too. They've recently migrated our whole server architecture over to Minnesota, canceled a massive platform upgrade that's been in the works here for over 2 years and pushed back several other projects/rollouts back to mid-early 2024.

I'm in tech and we are shutting down multiple projects for 2024. Some that are in progress are put back on shelf. Overall 30 percent.

Only essential investment and ops support is going forward. So 100 certain that that reductions will happen in Q1 24 or Q4 end 23. No other option.. writing is on the wall..

And yes each department was asked to give 2 ratings to some of the staff. Those may get impacted Q4. At the end even if you are star performer.. no budget no job. Face it

Not true.....just another rumor. Sometimes people on this site take a "dart throwing " approach and pick a random Thursday to start their speculation. When you see a number of posts with the same information about 2 weeks prior then we can start to worry. I have followed this site as an optum employee for years and that is what i found to be more accurate predictator of upcoming layoffs.

Probably because EE survey was delayed. Don't want the poor benefits dragging down mood and survey results.

I have worked here for over 18 years and Open Enrollment has always started in October . This year Nov 3-17th. Maybe reason is to wait for next round of layoffs to be done?!

Yes, they are coming, right after they have employees complete the employee survey.
