@fwe, your retirement is doomed with this line of thought. Enjoy work of your life and do not worry about AAPL stock!! If you have so much AAPL stock, do a tax benefit analysis and sell at nice profit. If you have complaint about Qualcomm, speak up.

The performance of the modem may be upgraded, but users will see little or no difference. Carriers are hurting and unable to pay for network upgrades. By now majority of the population was supposed to be upgraded to 5G core with the radio network operating on NR-DC (New Gen Radio - Dual Connectivity) technology. Your iPhone15 is capable of NR DC, but network does support it. In most parts of the country, iPhone11 or 12 is more than adequate to handle daily use.

Effectively, you have paid royalty fees to Qualcomm for a completely unusable feature. This is exactly why AAPL wants to go vertical so that they do not get beholden to their vendor's roadmap. This is what is ticking off the AAPL executive management. Apple is guided by Steve Jobs visionary statement (after the failed Newton), paraphrasing, "do not build a product just because the technology exists - only build it if there is a need or you can create a need".

As someone who retirement is heavily dependent on AAPL, I wish they build the modem, kick out Q, reduce cost and return more money to investors.

Water under the bridge. We know Q is going to be in fruits for at least 3 more years.
