Kit has been the DNA of VMware since the beginning. Will he stay on once the deal is complete? We need Kit.

The beatings will continue at BC until the hero worship is stopped.
Now get back to work.
The hero worship of certain personalities in VMware is still a mind boggling culture trait. Hopefully this get wiped out in Broadcom.
Dude will golden boy parachute onto a ranch in Montana.
He will move back in with his mom and she will be hired by BC to finally solve the explosion of Python versions used in VMware products.
His dog will solve our logging problems across products and life will be good.
Buh-bye and enjoy your undeserved CIC $ 20million or whatever astronomical amount it is.
Hocks c-suite does not wear super skinnys and havaianas
Broadcom need Kit like Motorcycle need ashtray
Real DNA of the company came from people like Ole Agesen.
Unfortunately, most of them are gone; I can't blame them for wanting
something better to do.
This needs more upvotes.
Ask why all the high level people who were actually massively improving things are gone. The answer isn't what you probably think.
He's the most likely to stay/be kept of the C-suite, at least for the mid-term anyway.
HAHAHAHAHA! ROFL
Just because someone can TALK doesn't mean they can claim credit for everything that others DO
All he does is talk in a monotonous tone and I can't even stand that drone.
Kit’s a waste of air, skin and money. Good riddance.
Nice try, Kit.
"It will be Hocks DNA all over his back, its over"
No, Hock never pulls out!
BC doesn't have a central CTO office.
Question is what will be the BG structure and will the new GM of the core BG want an OCTO and if a new GM will they want status quo?
Magic 8 ball says "Reply hazy, try again"
'Kit has been the DNA of VMware since the beginning'
I this a joke post?
It will be Hocks DNA all over his back, its over
''The only possible exception is Sumit and that depends on what role Hock offers him''
Absolute garbage, no way Octane will buy that waste of space, he is toast, very well paid toast
Sumit
What a waste of space. I remember his first day when he said he had no clue what he was doing but Pat hired him anyway.
To date he doesn’t know what the fu-k he is doing. During his first year saying we should concentrate on subscriptions (no sh-t Sherlock) and then the stupid Success 360 initiative (Remember how successful Jumpstarts were?).
And the. Talking about his stupid $10m house he put on the market.
Anyway, hope he gets kicked to the curb.
Kit changed VMware. He is an amazing CTO. I met him once when he came to India. My fps went up from 32fps to 160fps.
You observed the Peter Principle in action during his tenure. Not much more.
Wow a lot of credit given to the wrong guy.
Anyway he will be gone. Hock asked him to make coffee in meeting.
If you are staying at a company because of a person / what they did over a decade ago, I question your life and decision-making skills.
exactly, who cares
He will find another job where he can unprofessionally call new colleagues “dude.”
Dude.
Who cares
Wow. A lot of you have zero idea of what Kit is about. Setting aside his skills talking his way up top, his engineering accomplishments aren't what you are imagining it to be.
Real DNA of the company came from people like Ole Agesen. Unfortunately, most of them are gone; I can't blame them for wanting something better to do.
Intern to SVP at one company. Useless level of experience. Need to get rid. Waste of company money.
Who cares? Seriously, does anyone?
He'll collect his bag and ride off into the sunset, with more money than he'll ever be able to spend.
The entire VMware Csuite is going to pull their golden parachute...and good riddance. The only possible exception is Sumit and that depends on what role Hock offers him.
Kit has been a terrible CTO. And he did NOT invent VMotion. Kit was an INTERN who supported the team who developed it. An INTERN. And not even Zane could calculate the damage his skinny jeans have done to VMware since 2003.
For the record, Kit invented vMotion. He is more than just talk. He's a frigging genius and I am desperate to know whether he will be with VMware post Broadcom. If he is, then take my money!
Kit Colbert joined VMware in September 2003 (following an internship in 2002) and currently serves as senior vice president and chief technology officer. He is responsible for ensuring VMware’s long term technology leadership through research and innovation programs, with the primary goal of positively impacting and shaping the future of VMware, its ecosystem, and its customers. As CTO, Colbert will shape the technical vision for the company, and the transformation to a cloud and subscription-centric R&D organization. His oversight includes advancing research and development efforts, overseeing the VMware Engineering Services team, the Design/UX team and the company’s ESG commitments.
Prior to September 2021, Colbert served in multiple roles, including VMware’s Cloud CTO, General Manager of VMware’s Cloud-Native Apps business, CTO for VMware’s End-User Computing Business, and as the lead architect for the VMware vRealize Operations Suite. Colbert joined VMware as the technical lead behind the creation, development and delivery of the vMotion and Storage vMotion features in VMware vSphere.
vCenter Operations Manager (vCOPS) is now part of Aria Operations. It's like me saying has anyone heard of VDM? Anyone?
Golden parachute
Why do you think Kit is always smiling like that? He knows the jackpot is near
After that day he lost to me all credibility
You've been carrying this baggage for a long time, my dude. Just put it down and move on. You don't need to carry it anymore.
Kit is exactly the kind of excess baggage that bcom needs to jettison.
Pffff Kit ... will never forget his lie just before the announcement in his AMA channel.
Telling people to calm down and not believe rumours and 32hrs or so later the announcement. Sometimes it is just better to shut up rather than lie.
After that day he lost to me all credibility he may have had.
And before kids throwing their toys out of the pram because 'he is legally not allowed to say anything' then yes, that is true - so shut up and don't lie. ALL he had to do is wait a day before responding as at that point everything would have been clear and clearly not rumours ...
So to me he is just a better dressed version of Raghu.
Anyone remember his presentation at VMworld when he sent alert data from VCOPS to Socialcast? Does anyone remember what VCOPS was? Come on... anyone. Crickets? Socialcast? Wow. Tough crowd.
In his own words: "CTO = Chief Talking Officer. " Nice enough guy, but VMware needs more people who execute and deliver and fewer talkers
Has he really?
We don't need another CTO :)
