Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Walking out with 20k of product

Again in the cesspool of California Macys was again pilfered. At around 11 ish in the morning 5 to 6 men armed with hammers broke open cases and stole 20k worth of fragrances. A few days ago I posted the fact that because of political opposition to arresting people for stealing and letting them off easy I was being mean I guess, aw shucks. This is OUT OF HAND!! Obviously our CEO is asleep at the wheel and could care less dreaming about retirement and his great pension. This is coming to your store eventually my own store has been hit by gangs of theives stealing thousands of dollars of merchandise. How much more can we write off our books until it becomes unsustainable. Only those at the top,you know those that decided it wasn't worth keeping AP in many stores are responsible for this madness. Macys is just marching towards a self inflicted slow death

Don't blame the low quality of AP in our stores on AP leadership. The AP teams no longer report to AP, they report to the store manager, most of whom have no clue about AP or the time to invest in managing and coaching these "AP professionals", if that's what you can call people still in their teens who are being released after watching several videos.

The company really messed up when they went to market AP leaders who rarely see the AP people in the stores and expect the store managers to be AP leaders. It's really nuts.

Don’t blame the CEO for the out of control theft. Blame the leftist driven hobbling of law enforcement and AP.

Honestly, what do you care? It's not yours, and Macy's paltry wages are enough for you to be worrying about things that don't concern you.

There is no such thing as insurance for theft, never has been. Theft in whatever form has always been absorbed into a stores profit and loss.

Have you ever tried to reach Asset Protection when you needed them right this minute?? Good luck. Cant reach them by theatro, or by phone. They are too busy watching for employee theft. All that talk about coworkers asking customers if they can help them on the selling floor to let thieves know that we've seen them is a joke. Staffing is so bad you are lucky to get off the register once the day starts rolling. And the unattended fitting rooms are theft central. Remember back in the day when they had fitting room checkers who would only allow 6-pieces of merchandise per customer at a time and required everything to be hung on a hanger and returned after trying on? What are we talking about here? Hiring someone unskilled at minimum wage to count six pieces in and six pieces out? Yes, I know it's a liability (oh my, don't even raise the question that someone brought out some stinky shirt they wore into the store now on a hanger) but, my gosh, SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE OR WE ARE DOOMED. And the 4th quarter is on the horizon.

Can’t keep relying on insurance this kind of thing has to stop. Not just Macys but all retail. Sorry but does not surprise me in blue states like CA and NY where even if caught these people are let go quickly. Have to get back to having more AP in the stores plus more enforcement of the law to deter this type of thing. Maybe I’m asking too much but changes need to be made.

To those that say Pfft… Macy’s has insurance”… I’ve been told that Macy’s is self insured, so that just means prices will just keep going higher to compensate or until they can’t anymore and close down a location that has red flags all over it.

Insurance covers that theft. It is not just written off the books. Quit your b*tching.
