Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Just got word layoff letters received some departments

Managers announced layoffs coming. Some departments already notified they are being let go. So far the severance packages have been lame and not worth sticking around

I got let go today and did not even get two weeks for every year I served at vmware. If I would have known I would have left months ago

So disappointing that vmware didn’t ensure their people were taken care of

Total BS - our AMER severance is two months and then on top of that you receive 1 week for every year. This person is a troll.

The description of your message here would trigger a WARN notice, and since no WARN has been triggered, this is a troll/lies. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

The length of severance has progressively shrunk over the years. In 2010, I had a front row seat to the termination process of a fellow employee. He was given one month of severance for each of his five years of tenure, which was crazy to me since the employee was actually being terminated "for cause". The point being, the formula at the time was one month per year of service. Early in the PG era, the rule of thumb was two months severance; plus two weeks for each year of severance. Then at some point it became two months, plus one week per year of service.

It’s always been one week per year in the US, why did you think it’s 2 weeks per year? It’s even on Source.

"Just got word" is completely different from "I was laid off".

This is why the post sounds like trolling. Which is it?
