Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Good bye VMware

Farewell, VMware. I will always remember you as the best company you were in the days of Mendel Rosenblum and his wife the CEO Diane Greene, your legendary founders and true leaders. I will also remember the days with the brilliant and kind CEO Paul Maritz. Those were legendary days, and you were a legendary company.

I will try to forget the days after, when Carli Maurizio and the later management turned you into a money machine with no charisma, no passion, and no soul. But I know that the VMware name and legend will never die.

Cheers to the future, and good luck to all who carry on the VMware legacy.

" said goodbye to that VMware a long time ago. Todays VMware requires you to memorize all 28+ genders, and to publicly reject male whiteness."

Oh poor baby. And you think your male whiteness will be appreciated at Broadcom? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA... You are up to a big wake up call.

And be a white male MAN and tell every interviewer for your next jobs how much you hate DEI and you think that white males should get the jobs and promotions just because they are male and white and if that doesn't happen, it's DEI's fault. Let's see how well that works for you.

"And by nailing it I mean there isn’t a single assertion or comment you just made that has any connection to the truth…. Just like your support for DEI."

Guess you'll find out soon enough, bucko. Are you a bettin' man? Because you've got a 50-75% chance of being laid off. And your best outcome is going to be working at an awful company that puts their staff into a pressure cooker and requires them to come to the office 5 days a week. So.... either have fun being laid off or being miserable in a god-awful commute.

Wow you nailed it.

"Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me…"

But long-term unemployment will. Because apparently you didn't get the obvious message when the announcement was made that BC lays off most of the companies that it buys. I got it and left a year ago. You OTOH have spent an entire year moaning about DEI. Well soon you'll have something more to complain about. Because you're about to find out just how gnarly the job market really is since everyone I know who's been laid off is getting zero responses.

So good luck ( Not really ) because eventually you're going to have to move to Arkansas when the new job never comes. Might be a good thing to as you will then be living amongst people of your own Trump-lovin' kind.

The practices at VMware are way out of hand and need to stop.

Bless your heart. Wait until you see DEI at some other companies. VMware is very middle of the road in its implementation. Broadcom has a strong Diversity@Broadcom team.

You can whinge all you want but it is not going away.

I love how “scared” people are of being accused of being a racist when talking about DEI at VMware.

Big deal, call me whatever words you like. I’m so scared… not.

The practices at VMware are way out of hand and need to stop. If you disagree and think that is racist, fantastic!

Eventually the Supreme Court will stop it - just like the did for college admissions.

That makes the Supreme Court racists as well for those in the DEI cult. Everyone who disagrees, even the Supreme Court, gets the label. Such a mature and sophisticated argument from the DEI crowd.

Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me…

"This is what happens when fringe ideology is forced top down from HR and espoused by virtue signalers at most group meetings. The only way to vent and let off some steam without fear of losing your job is on an anonymous layoff board.

There is no room or place for healthy debate because you are immediately labeled a racist or fillintheblankphobe for questioning the legitimacy and execution of our DEI program"

Dude- you ARE a racist. The collection of pithy comments you made about DEI over the last year easily proves it and its a real shame this is an anonymous forum because you really have no place working here. No matter. You likely won't be working here much longer.

The other option is to just let it go, lower your blood pressure, and not let it live rent free in your head.

It’s great when you are a near-monopoly. Not so fun when your version of Moore’s Law comes to an end.

VMware was an inventor and market leader in server virtualization, and then it slowly slipped into a steady pace of innovation mediocrity. Most legacy software vendor's influence fades over time. It's inevitable.

You can apply Darwin's process of natural selection to SaaS vendor evolution.

Who is this clown? Dude shows up literally on every single post bi--hing and moaning about DEI. I'm going to automatically assume the person is either a failure or not very good at their jobs and being immature, blames everyone else for their failures. Fine. Soon they will have something real to moan about when they are laid off.

Companies change, it was an amazing company in its mega growth phase with Mendel/Diane and others but that’s life. BC is needed to get some rigour and focus back.

I am sure what will be left out of VMware will be great. So much opportunity ahead of this company, basically every enterprise I speak to uses VMware and that instal base is huge. Hence the opportunity ahead for BC to create from that enormous base.
