Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Preferential packages

There is fraud going on in putting together severance packages. VPs and senior directors have discretion in signing off on preferred packages. Unless severance information is made public, the fraud will continue.

How much are the "preferential" packages? 3 weeks per year served?

@2tzq+1ow5geyc just because there is a review process, it does not mean it is fair or it is not corrupt and gamed. There is a reason why cliques are there in QC and it is not illegal. People always figure out how to adhere to the letter of the law but not to its spirit.

Good for you that you believe that there will be no fraud in putting together separation packages. Based on the culture of protecting and promoting connected people, I have no reason to believe that either the "layoff list" or the "separation packages" is going to be objective. It will be tainted by the influence of higher ups wanting to protect and reward their own.

What is your source? Qualcomm has an entire team of lawyers who review everything to make sure they don’t end up in court. If they did something stupid like provide preferential packages they would leave themselves open to lawsuits. Be realistic. This is just made up, makes no sense.

Will some people be laid off for cause? Quite possibly, yes, because they are some who have ignored a directive from the CEO to return to the office 4 days a week. It is in the HR handbook, and anyone who does not have a signed remote agreement is expected to comply. Anyone who is not in compliance could be fired with cause. That doesn’t mean this will absolutely happen. It only means the possibility is there.

Fraud is when an audit cannot justify objectively why some packages were disproportionately different from others. Different rules for different people based on who you know or what cliquen you belong to.

If it feels better to stick you head in the sand and pretend everything is reasonable fair, good for you.

Clearly, the comments only know about "standard package". If you believe everybody is getting the standard package, good for you.

Got a pkg in last round. Here to tell you that they can go into the middle hundreds of thousands, before taxes that is.

Everyone will not get same package. If you are thinking everyone will get same package you have little work experience and don’t know anything.

For somebody that have worked for Qualcomm for many many years, package worth more than $100K is not far-fetch actually. Consider standard package like 2 month salary plus 2 weeks pay per year of service. For somebody with 20 years working for Q, it means package worth 1 year salary

Nobody wants to be on layoff list. But the previous thread about ppl closer to retirement getting 6 figure packages smells like fraud.

How does a preferred person end up on the layoff list?

Preferred packages to preferred people. Not entirely based on current base and time at company.
