When is apple’s much anticipated 5g modem going to be ready? They took our (Intel) fully formed and very performant 4g modem and all the resources, but have not yet finished the 5g design. Meanwhile Huawei/Hisilicon steal the thunder.

I wonder how many of those 5G Modem developers actually understand the 5G standard.
Apple should aim for a 8G modem.
By that time all the current workers will have retired and there will be no one remaining to blame for the delayed, oversized, underperforming modem.
QCOMer here! Not suprised. This is a result of years of Apple poaching low performing QCOM engineers.
Who is going to hire these perennial failures now?

Since 6 years, these infantile engineers are playing with their toys. Tim Cook should take away their toys and get them to work like grown ups.
The Germans are too busy mobbing their work colleagues. Who has the time to develop a usable 5G modem?
No surprises here.
Racists can't collaborate creatively.
Are you satisfied ? No modem since 5 years but at least every one speaks German now.
The Infineon , Intel, Apple failure train keeps on rolling.
Apple might have been at it since long before 2018, probably from start of 4g LTE. They worked on it for a few years without much success so when they had a chance they bought out intel’s modem business. Even with a working 4g modem and probably some headway towards 5g from that bunch they are so far not able to make it. Even as others have been successful. That’s is pretty strange. And also to the previous poster, Apple does make great software btw.
I've been hearing about them trying to make a modem since 2018. Since then other companies have made their own modem. I think it's a combination of a lack of urgency and competency. Apple makes excellent hardware, from ICs to laptops, but not great software. Just look at macOS: they couldn't make a decent OS, and, therefore, had to ripoff BSD. A modem is a bunch of processors running code that does all the work. The hardware does very little, whereas in a GPU, the hardware is the star.
Apple won't be able to survive without Qualcomm.
