How did everyone feel about the comment in the meeting today about the return to office / hybrid plan to a new corporate office that doesn't exist yet?

All I have heard is that they signed a non-binding agreement for a location in Cranberry. No additional details and nothing has been formally announced. I don't think this is really new news as someone previously had said it was going to be in Cranberry.
Wahhhhhhhh!!!

Is CTO KB officially departing, or just rumor? He was the reason I quit, so curious if he's actually leaving. Thanks!
They're locked into GEB for a couple more years thanks to the old CFO RG, old CEO LK, departing CTO KB and supported by CPO JL. See a trent for the previous chiefs? JL has a ticking clock above her head.
As you get closer to the end of the GEB agreement, jobs will be brought back.
Enjoy the office :)
Both sides on here need to grow up. Life's full of choices. Choose whether you want to continue emoloyment or not. Ask anyone in Columbus & they would have told you your new boss is a sc-mbag. He needs everyone together so he can benefit w/incentives. Who cares if YOU have to drive to work because all his mileage, hotels, meals are paid for. Oh yeah, take your 2% and be happy! Bottom line though, you've been fortunate to WFH for the last 3 1/2 years, fortunate to ONLY going back to the office three days a week (understanding this is the new norm for most companies), and fortunate that the new location, wherever it may be, will be nicer than that dump in RIDC. People who are out of market will fall behind (because who wouldn't when the rest of the team is together), get PIP'ed, then replaced by someone local who will join the RTO group. The biggest issue is the continued incompetence of the GEB people. I guess saving a buck is more important than competence...
Did I mention the lack of compassion? ROTFL
The spoiled "i have to drive 40 minutes to work" crew such as yourself are the ones that need to go. Anybody who works downtown drives 40 minutes and pays $20+ a day to park. Guess what, probably a 100k people do it everg day. People driving an hour a day is normal. Go find another job. Nobody is going to hire you to sit on your butt all day anymore. If you get something out of state, expect to travel for a week every moth. Every year there's going to be this mass exodus at bonus time, GE is screwing them etc. Then people look and never leave. Let's see how many find a better job that has them drive < 40 minutes and park for free. I'm gonna say <5%. I'd bet the house on it.
RTO itself is not the issue for many... it's moving the office 40 minutes away from the existing location. Oh, and not being transparent about it or showing any compassion for the people whose lives are about to be a logistical nightmare. And, don't get me started on the fact that not all departments (or the out of market TMs) will be required to show up there.
Think what you will. Very few, if any mid to large range companies have remained 100% remote. It was fun while it lasted, now back to the office we go.
Lol this site is exactly that, spewing garbage with some truth sprinkled in here and there.
I hope everyone reading takes any post on an anonymous site with a grain of salt, including my post too.
The previous poster to say people are less productive in WFH must be a company leader trying to convince you of that. Sure people abuse it, hopefully they are less productive and eventually get PIP and termed. The companies that don't limit themselves to workers that happen to live near an office will be successful.
It won't let me edit to add this to my previous post, but the new location is by Cranberry Woods. Again, known by many people, but your bosses need to keep it quier till things are signed, so they lie and say they don't know.
You people are funny. RTO was said by BA in his original statement, why are you surprised?
Cranberry and RIDC was talked about by the VP's and Director level in some areas to go along with building out offices in 35th street back in June, if not before.
It's been determined that people do not work and are not as peoductive in wfh. It's why most companies are switching back to a hybrid model.
The lasr tmpov survey said the majority of GE team members want a hybrid model, to which Jeremy said no way.
Know some facts please before you spew garbage on this site.
Was told by my Supervisor the office will be in Cranberry but also that my department (withholding for obvious reasons) won't be required to go to the office but three days per month at most. If I was one of the less fortunate departments, that is required to return, and take a pay cut in the process I'd be incensed. Good luck!
It’s funny they keep talking about an RTO policy for an office we have yet to hear anything about. So a!$ backwards imo.
Rumors are they were looking in Cranberry, but I haven’t been able to confirm that with more than a handful of people.
Anyone have any updates on where the office schmucks will be heading? Happy for you all...lol
It was said this week that anyone who is made to travel from out of town will have everything paid for. Yet if we have to drive somewhere the first 100 miles aren’t covered. In what world is this fair?!? Can’t wait to see how many good people leave because of this garbage.
I don't think this company realizes how incredibly inconvenient this is for its employees. Because I happen to live in Pittsburgh, I'm now forced to come into an office to sit on a dozen Microsoft Teams meetings because 3/4 of the people are NOT in Pittsburgh? We can do this at home. Not to mention a good bit of leadership are not in market and probably will have their travel paid for when they do have to come. Merit increase will not pay for the additional costs we will incur for this stupid a-s initiative.
Of course the "recently promoted EVP" thinks "its ok" for people to work out of market while making others incur the expense, especially when said EVP travels to Pittsburgh each week, expenses everything, and gets his stays paid for. Maybe this will shake off some of the dead weight & if so it'll be worth it. For those of you stuck traveling back to an office, better start searching for a second job to pay for gas, tolls, and childcare especially after company has skimped on pay raises the past four years under the guise of the $ savings of working remote.
You gotta think they are using this as a quiet layoff. Get people to quit without paying out severance maybe? A recently promoted to EVP had a call with staff today where it was stated “it’s ok” that those out of market won’t be able to come into the office.
A lot of people will not be happy with Cranberry.
"Experienced" people like to do things the way it has always been done aka the old school way. That makes a huge assumption that the old way is better and I don't think that is the case. The issues GE has are not going to be solved by bringing some people back to the office 3 days a week. Maybe some people on an individual level will benefit from being around people and in an office, but some people also thrive in a remote world. It's just like learning. Some people are visual, some are auditory, etc...
How absolutely hysterical. All you hiveminds were practically gleeful to see Laura go in favor of BA. I distinctly recall someone proclaiming that he’d be the savior and ‘do whatever it takes.’ Now you’ve got him.
Goodbye WFH, hello even lower morale. Instead of investing wisely in pricing, it’s splurging on shiny new offices to feed ego. Autocratic decisions without a hint of transparency.
Bravo! You’ve managed to land right back where you started, if not in an even worse spot.
I think they were auctioning off the leases on the 3 buildings (maybe June?). But yes, it’s odd. Unless they view it as, we had to pay for the leases anyway. Can’t wait to see how this plays out.
With how high prices are, and he supposedly wants to commit to lowering them, that announcement surprised me too. Why would you spend more money on an office when trying to cut costs. We still pay rent on two buildings at kappa per a winsightgrocerybusiness article.
It sounded like he (intentionally or not) may have made a comment in an article, which I have yet to see published online, about returning to a hybrid model. He was probably trying to get ahead of it before people read about it. Poorly handled, poorly communicated. If you believe what you hear, no one even at a VP level knew about this "announcement."
What a **it show and no one seems to have any details on who and where
