Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Eliminate company cars?

I wonder how much those company cars cost the company. If they eliminated them and forced the field team to use their own personal cars with a milage reimbursement and require them to buy their own insurance, then wouldn't that save millions of dollars? Couldn't the saving be passed on to retain hundreds of workers?

Already tried that years ago, went to fleet cars because they were paying out too much money. I love the way people comment on certain things and have no idea how everything works.

Some positions don't need company cars. I don't think some managers need them because if they are doing audits, they could probably ride along as they are called "ride alongs."

I wish they would. Being an FR that averages 750-1000 miles a week. The government rate is 62.5 cents a mile. They would average out to be $1875-$2500 a month. I think Nielsen has the better deal paying for the fleet vehicles.
