Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

There was too much fat so a lay-off might be good for overall health of the company

They send hires to train in Florida when the managers could have been training new field recruits. Companies should chose between highly hourly wage or bonuses (not both). The field team should either be at min wage and maintain the bonus or go the Retail or Walmart route by having a high wage and no bonus but performance determines hours. The lowest of the low field should not be having salaries as they are entry level. Nielsen could make field independent contractors like an uber approach so anyone in an area can recruit homes as it's not so hard. The installers are semi-skilled and could be paid $200 per install on a 1099 basis. Automation and artificial intelligence will be the future of measurement. Ratings info could be pulled directly off cable boxes. A computer model can generate demographic information. A sample of real homes could be biased as it is only people who want to participate and give up their privacy. Are the Nielsen panels even accurate given that they undercounted the superbowl? This is an outdated company and it needs to cut the fat and adapt to survive. Layoffs aren't a bad thing. Nothing personal. It's just business.

I agree with each of these responders to the original post. My gut reaction was that this may be a competitor writing those inane comments. This person has NO clue how things work. Best of luck to all of us who were laid off.

This post is completely misguided. The person who wrote it obviously doesn’t understand research and how it costs real money to drive representative panels. Our competitors think they can do it for cheaper until they realize they have gaps in their measurement. It’s hard being number 1.

I feel our competitors are trying to take advantage of an already difficult situation. The person who wrote this is likely a competitor. Their post is just a means to an end so that they can capitalize on difficulties experienced today, but we are and will be better than that. I am sorry for the pain some families are feeling tonight. Nobody wants this. I will even say “demon Dave” as described in this forum, doesn’t want it either. But hey, it’s just my opinion.

It’s painful obvious you’ve never been in a field role. While there is fat to trim it’s not on the FR side. The base salary is a joke and the monthly bonus is what’s keeping a majority of the reps here.

As a rep that has been with the company for quite some time we do way way more than the basic job description to gather the most accurate data we can for this company. You are literally clueless about this part of the company.

peddling poverty wages as a solution for the fact nielsen leadership ran up so much debt & made boneheaded mistakes that they were forced to sell to a debt knob gobbling company, forcing employees to pay the price for their mistakes, is not the smart flex you think it is. But sure, do go on that people deserve minimum damn wage and think that’s viable & the way to go. go home, troll.
