Seems strategy is to bring in upper mgt from failing companies and then wonder why they are failing. My upper mgt was clueless, shut down dialogue, and burnt folks out. Most from outside and from companies going down.

Man you got the direction of job movement the incorrect way. UHC payor strategy has been to shed as many jobs upstream to Optum and only retain functions of essentially being the bank on the backend shuffling the money around for investments and conjuring up the benefit plans. Optum will then offshore all positions that are not restricted to onshore handling. This has been the game plan for at least a decade. After having UHC pay to setup the infrastructure the dream is to say hey we do this for united we can do it for you CVS/aetna, cigna etc

If you’re doing anything at all related to inbound/outbound call center and it’s considered “non-restricted business” (i.e. no federal regulations preventing them from doing so, your job is as good as gone. Position to know here. Sorry for the bad news, but update your resume. Good luck all.

optum will never be absorbed that guy doesnt know what hes talking about. optum works with other companies like blue cross blue shield, cigna humana etc and takes money from them for services. they dont want to be giving money to a direct competitor i.e. UHG so they "do business" with optum.

To the poster about UHG absorbing Optum. Optum isn't going anywhere but maybe some of the shared services functions that span all of the entities may be eliminated and only reside in the parent group of UHG. If that is the case then there may be layoffs in those types of areas such as supply chain, human capital, legal, compliance, IT, etc.

If so, that is a job elimination cost cutting activity. It will not help the organizations but that is not a priority. The only priority is money, not people, not work life balance, it's all about the money and share holder value. Therefore more offshoring (cheaper labor), more contractors (they don't get benefits so that too is cheaper) and more downsizing via layoffs of long term well compensated employees. It is just how they seem to roll.

No one is safe.

“Can’t say why” what’s the point of anonymous platform when people post such messages.”

“It’s considered non-restricted business and as part of cost optimization efforts that group will be shifted to PHL”…right out of the mouth of a 30 into my ear hole 2 days ago. A person directly involved hands-on in the aforementioned activities. Is that sufficient detail?

Stop with the false propaganda (comment below) optum is the money maker for United health care. Optum isn’t going anywhere

UHC will be absorbing all Optum roles and functions until Optum doesn’t exist as a separate entity any longer.

If you want to help people provide details.

Also, that doesn’t really narrow down that many jobs lol any job other than customer facing sales roles can be outsourced nowadays

Hunker down everyone. Can’t say why but the knives are definitely out for anyone working in a position that can be offshored. Good luck.
