Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

NewHire

! Hello ¡
I just found out about this website from my friends. I wish I knew about it before I got the job at locomotive shop, so I would never come to work here. What I see as a new w worker is: bad management, senior workers = low morale, no career progress & furloughs! I think I am better for looking for better options before I get laid off. "UP is hiring" ... No thanks!

I can say is that after my 2nd layoff in 2019, I made the choice to get my college degree and no longer have to worry about UP and their unreliable employment. My advice for everyone is to take this time to better yourself and help insulate from a layoff. The way the economy is going, if Vena doesn't get you, the economic downturn will. If you are a Vet, use your GI Bill before its too late. A degree opens so many doors and options.

Lots of new hires and some unfortunate employees with a few years of service will be gone Sooner than later! I think the fuel track I work at will look different within 1 month! For the worse! 17 years of seniority might not be enough! I already see signs

You should've been there when he showed up the first time. The cuts were very deep and lasted the whole time he was here. I'd like to say welcome to the UP, but I can't. If you have other options for employment, then I'd strongly suggest you do that instead. It's only going to get worse for anyone that's still there. The signing bonus or whatever they're baiting people now may be appealing, but trust everyone when they tell IT'S NOT WORTH IT!

Big corporations don't care about the workers. You can be the most productive and they would still cut you to save a buck. messed up thing is that they expect loyalty

If you have nothing or next to nothing invested at the UP then go find a different job. The future here is bleak. Fast Fact #3-Jim does not care about anyone. If it was only Jim and one other person left within the entire company, he would try to cut the other person. May karma find this creep sooner rather than later.
