Walgreens was on a steep decline well before Roz became CEO. Pessina remained ultimately in control as chairman as well as majority share holder. The ultimate goal for him is to go private, whether it's KKR or another private equity firm. At that moment going forward he will no longer answer to Wall Street or have to pay those annoying shareholders. Every dime the company makes will go right into his pocket. Not a proponent of Roz Brewer but the company is certainly not out of the woods simply due to her departure.

Which brings her full circle to what else? Mar 1- which gives her the full sign on bonus of $24mil dollars. For what? you might ask. Why, for destroying a once well respected and highly regarded made in America company, of course! Unbelievable. Shame on the Board

Screwer, Pessina, and every single Board member need to be investigated. Screwer forced out loyal & dedicated team members, regardless of their years of service, talent, expertise, respect, record of reviews, and recognition they enjoyed as SMEs. If their tan wasn’t good enough- they simply had to go. Then she filled their roles with her besties, experience & qualifications be d@mned!! The best one is her Executive Vice President of Store Dance w Accompanying Camera Crew, Chief Drummer Girl Ba Ru-p a Big Ru-p, and Assistant to the Assistant Mgr of Embarrassing Your Child for Life Cuz Those Clips Never Go Away + Nails On A Chalkboard Are A Preferable Listening Choice. Althoughhhhhh- a Chief INFORMATION officer who struggles to string together an intelligible sentence in English verbally OR written was pretty darn clever. RB, Jolly Nay & Uptown Bully Brown probably laughed til they cried over that one. Fake tears of course- the soulless have no real tears.
I hope RB, Pessina, and every board member is prepared for.the lawsuits headed their way. The pattern has been blatant and glaring.

This is a note from the interim CEO.

( To keep this quitting CEO to consult even for awhile? Why would you even do that. Stock down to 23 and you want to have her consult still and pay her $375,000 a month? Seriously?

On behalf of the entire Board, I would like to thank Roz for her contributions and deep commitment to WBA, to our customers and the patients we serve. She valued every team member and was diligent in representing you and your hard work. Roz navigated the Company through a challenging period during the pandemic and oversaw our global rollout of COVID-19 vaccines in our pharmacies and to high-risk populations across the U.S. She worked diligently on the Company’s behalf.

For the immediate future, we will continue to benefit from her advice as she has agreed to consult with the Company for a time. I know you will join me in wishing her well in her future endeavors.

Whoever posted that comment is absolutely right. Pessina and the Board hired her and she brought in an unqualified C suite - but she wanted to check the diversity box and she did but WAGs didn’t get better. Roz and Pessina dismantled the company. They fired talented people who had decades of experience but they didn’t check Roz’s diversity box. She wanted people who agreed with her and that’s a good business model. Shame on her and the Board. Anyone can discriminate. She did. Just hire the right person for the job. And these new executives are all about self promotion - they never cared about what Charles Walgreens started.

But it will take years to unravel the mess they’ve created, to correct the damage that’s been done. And then there’s the issue of all of the incredible talent they lost aka pushed out under this regime. It’s sickening.

One would like to believe this would be a cautionary tale for other companies: Hire & promote the MOST QUALIFIED individual for the role you’re filling, Period. But not likely they’ll learn a darn thing from this😔

And Mr Monaco needs to answer: Why was a COO of a coffee company brought in as the CEO of the largest retail pharmaceutical & healthcare company in the US & across EU at THE HEIGHT OF A GLOBAL PANDEMIC???? Good grief.

The Board has too many questions to answer here than there is space.

Hopefully, maybe, this once highly successful Made-in-America company can be saved. Hopefully. The Question though: Is it too late? All of Charles R Walgreen’s dreams, hard work, blood, sweat. & tears- followed by his son’s & then his grandson’s- all but destroyed in a mere 29mths by a self-serving, self-promoting narcissist who hires her buddies with little to no regard to qualifications. SMH
