Met with my manager, they didn't mention layoffs at all. Didn't ask either, since even if they knew, they would lie to me. No news is good news, although I'm not sure being kept is all that good.

Can confirm about the holding back tears part. I’ve been here for 12 years. My children have only known me to work here. It’s been an amazing ride and the best place to work in my life so far.
I am very sad about what has been done to this company

"You sound like an underage kid trying to buy alcohol at a 7-11. 💀🤣 I don't believe you're a manager."
Have you seen some of the posts on the slack channel by "managers"? You can't judge someone's position by what they post...

I'm a manager and I'm fulling expecting my job to be cut, and my team merged with others.
I also know that decision is being made at the VP+ level and I won't know until it happens.
So, put on my game face, smile, and continue to make the team feel good and optimistic even when I think I'll be let go before any of them.
Actual Layoff will happen November and we'll be notified sometime in October.
I hold the position of a Manager, and I can attest that uncertainty is prevalent. Within our organization, there's an abundance of Management roles, especially at the Senior Manager and Director levels. My suspicion is that Broadcom may initiate layoffs within the Management ranks.
Some of the employees who have been around for years are welcoming this change. We know it will never go back to the good old days 10+ years ago. But this company is a mess right now, and we have no respect for the current leadership, even though we have known Raghu, Kit, and Betsy for years. They have failed the company with their policies and initiatives and need to go. Let's get back to making money, and if we cut in the process, oh well, life goes on.

Don't worry, the way things are progressing, most of us will be gone soon.
On a positive note, I commend you for not asking about layoffs. Your manager was likely holding back tears, if they're an employee that's been around VMW for a decade or more.
