Which date is Severance based on…Service Date or Hire Date

An Aetna legacy employee will have a service date when they were hired by Aetna AND a hire date when they became a cvs employee. Which is used to determine severance

I get that people who don't qualify for severance or a pension not being happy about it. But I made a choice in the 90's to work for Aetna. They offered a pension/401k/health benefits. Now 28 years later I am not going apologize for taking those benefits that I earned. CVS is running this company into the ground almost as fast as B*den has destroyed the economy.
