The ELT only cares about profits. They'll do whatever they can to achieve it, including making stupid decisions that will cost the company in the long run but will make them look good right now. The sad thing is, this is not 3M exclusive. Wherever you go you'll get more of the same. Unless you're willing to join a tiny company with much lower pay, you're stuck in this toxicity.

After we moved over from KCI/Acelity a longtime 3Mer asked me what it was like now we were part of 3M. I replied that if you ever wanted to work somewhere where you were literally just a number then 3M was the place. I stand by that to this day and can't wait for the spinoff to be completed. I'm giving Spinco 2-3 years to prove that its not just 3MLite or I'm out of here, which is a shame because I love the job and the people I work with but I cant take the bullsh-t for much longer.
People - get over it.. companies come and go. That is the true identity of capitalism. A company meeting the needs of its customers with better service and pricing wins.. 3M got used to being the beast in the market place and continued to behave like the gorilla it used to be to no avail. Accept 10-15 percent margin and structure your business to work in that kind of environment.
