I started in March. Am I about to lose my job? Are cuts here usually of the "last in/first out" variety?

At Q, if you haven't had at least a couple of review cycles, you are safe.
Pretty sure several Directors in my department know they are being cut. Not that any of them have ever put in an 8 hour day, but they haven’t been around. Or they show up mid day and are heading out a couple hours later. Meetings canceled.
There is a high chance you’re on the layoff list , why?? Thats a good question, 1. You’re too new to have kissed the right rears of directors/ managers who will save you. 2. You’re too new to have any dependencies. 3. You’re too new and will have the least impact on the team if you’re gone, its like you never existed. 4. If your manager does bot nominate you, he might get nominated himself
Point being start studying and interviewing.
PS: i was laid off from META 2 months after joining (QC ——> META)
I will blame you for joining this company. Didn't you find anything decent?
Good rule of thumb is to never be comfortable anywhere you work.
You just never know. Especially in big companies, we’re all just numbered minions.
you want the truth ?....YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH !...lol
kidding aside.....you're f$%k3d boy!
Depends on how hard you negotiated to get that extra $$$, how crucial your role is to your team, company etc , if your team is critical and many more factors. Being a recent hire will not protect you from layoffs.
Hey there, OP. Don't sweat it too much. Only the top C-levels have the lowdown on layoffs. If you got hired in March during the hiring freeze, your role is critical. If the project you're working on is a top priority, you're likely in the clear. But if luck's not on your side and you end up on a doomed project in a high cost location, it's not just you – the whole team should start thinking about job security.
I think I know the answer already, but you can't blame a guy for hoping.
