Except for the general anxiety of finding a new job, getting laid off from this company was the best thing ever. Upper management is incredibly disorganized, out of touch with staff, and ridiculous with demands. Can’t tell you how many nights/weekends I worked - and to no appreciation. Working at Walgreens was the most miserable I’d ever been in a job. I feel bad for those still there because I’m pretty sure it’s even worse now! And to those who got laid off along side me…there are much greener pastures out there.

Does walgreens typically just not schedule you but keep you on the books?
Yeah…it was the constant, constant fire drills that did me in. I mean, I get it if it’s a business emergency. I have less patience when the fire drill is to prepare a presentation for a senior leader that could have been planned much further in advance!
Burned out Wag employee here. I enjoy reading the comments here and it's true that there are valid observations shared on this site. It's unfortunate leadership does not value input from those that actually do the work. I found that lowering or eliminating any expectations of our C-suite leadership helps with mental health. Our lack of staffing, short-term solutions, dated technology and processes all contribute to making this company a complete sh-t show.
The point of these posts isn’t for the CEO and upper management. It’s for the people fighting/working in the stores and at corporate WHO don’t have a voice. And just bc you don’t have a voice doesn’t mean your observations about what’s going on w/ the company are wrong. The stock is $25 a share (ridiculous thanks Roz) and the people in the field, in stores, and at corporate are not happy, except for a few who are paid to kiss up and not actually fix problems.
The CEO does not read these posts and no one else from upper management does as well so you continuously complaining about that and why haven’t they been fired. Stockholders don’t read these either so who do you really think is listening to all your whining and bi--hing
So the person who keeps posting should have happened sooner you seem to be very disgruntled and seems like you need to just quit and move on but let me guess you don’t think this company can do without you but guess what they can and they will go on without you and if you are the same person posting that McDonalds pays better than Walgreens then leave if all you are concerned about is pay
All a bunch of over paid do nothings and puppets to this so called CEO and managment team. SO be happy you were paid like you were for what you did. And for the ones saying they worry about the rest/team that are still there, too bad you didn't worry about them before. Should have been done a lot sooner.
It was definitely hard to leave my team. And I will do everything I can to help them get out of Walgreens if they so wish.
But yes, SO much better for my mental health. It’s a sinking ship.
Btw has anyone heard if they will pay out annual bonuses? Guessing no, but curious…
It was heartbreaking because I don’t want to leave my team without support but probably better for my mental health in the long run
So true. Aside from a 2 day stint at a laundromat in high school (a lifetime ago) Walgreens is the worst. Dread every day.
What position were you in, if you don't mind me asking?
