Remember UHC is a very large org. with est. 400,000 employees. It’s as big as a some city’s population. Heck it’s a higher population than my own hometown. So this company will very often make financial decisions. It’s really unfortunate for layoffs to happen to good people, but it happens. I’ve been hearing about layoffs rumors for years. Some dates on this thread are true. And sometimes it’s not. Someone said a big one on 8/17 then I read oh it’ll be 8/24 and so forth. Same ole news they may or may not be true. It will only cause stress and anxiety for those to constantly obsessed over “rumors”. Even small businesses have layoffs or shut down. Just remember how big this org. is. Everyday in a city, someone gets laid off. Not just UHC. If you are truly feeling that lack of job security, the best time to apply for a job, is when you still have a job. Even though the job market may be cr-ppy, just don’t feel discouraged. Best of luck.

The exact mentality that Corporate America is hoping we all have, while they redistribute wealth to the top 1%.
Dude- people are being laid off in my department on the regular. Do you even work here?
Don't overthink or stress? 10% of my team and apparently of many teams are being let go. I was let go. I am now out of a job and I fully support my family. How can you be so cavalier? 10% of UHG is 40,000 people. This is a huge deal.
Yes I’ve heard about layoffs happening to clinicians @ urgent care clinics in West Virginia and Texas. Again, I was only implying that UHC is such a large org. Some dates on here have been true and sometimes it’s not. And any job we take on, layoffs are possible. Especially a norm for a big org. I don’t think it’s worth stressing over it daily. Best to remain positive so that we can focus on our jobs and continue like business as usual. But I’m saying if this isn’t for anyone, can always look for another org. to work for. Doesn’t matter where you go, every org, have layoffs. I do wish the best for everyone. And I do hope no one loses their jobs. If that is the case, you all will be ok. I’ve been layoff once before. Not at UHC, but at a different org. So I understand the feeling. But I know we just have to move forward. And it isn’t the end of the world.
Layoffs are happening on 8/24
