Thread regarding VMware layoffs

What is your bet on commercial team?

Based on what happened with previous acquisition, lots of people guess commercial team will be eliminated.

What is your best guess on the commercial team's destiny?
Do you think the team will be gone from day 1 or the team will be put on for transition and in the end the function gets to move to external outsourcing vendors?

Ex-CA/Symantec folks, please share your experience and views on that.

the ISR are all gonna be wiped out, bet on that. Does not bring in the volume Hock wants that can offset the salary of the rep. Hock has said again and again large business only. Partners will run all inside/c2 whatever they call themselves

Bets. A great way to keep anxiety down. Because everyone just loves the stress of others gambling over if their job is taken away from them for their own amusement.

who is the commercial team?

Broadcom will sort customers by spend, and assign them into three tiers. Strategic, commercial, corporate.

Strategic will be the top 2300 customers, and they get the best treatment, real support, account managers, etc.
The other tiers get less. Less support "Encouraged to use self-support options", less account management, etc.

"who is the commercial team?"

The tier of customer that are not assigned a direct sales rep. Mostly small and medium size companies, with a few larger companies that historically buy less from VMW

Stop over worrying (it's just noise), there are just 3 scenarios so focus on those rather than who, when, how much etc.
Tick them off when you've written down a plan for each one. Promise you, you'll sleep to much better.

  1. Redundancy package at deal close (VMWare package). Upgrade skills, get CV ready.
  2. Transfer: Additional 6 (approx) months on around 150% salary but redundant with VMWare redundancy package at the end
  3. Broadcom employee: not 1/2 as bad as made out and continued employment. VMware, you'll appreciate the fast and simple decision making. It'll be a breath of fresh air.

For all 3 you're significantly compensated one way or another and have time to make necessary preparations
